Impact of Culture on Marketing
Impact of Culture on Marketing The impact of culture on how the products or services might be marketed in various regions around the world. Nandos is a multi-national food chain restaurant with thousands of restaurants across the globe. Nandos are a South-African food chain that has expanded globally over the last 15 years. The Impact of culture on how this food product/service has been viewed in various countries around the world had originally had a negative effect when Nandos first tried to expand to different countries. When expanding a business globally one of the main objectives to making an impact on the market is to take into consideration that countries culture. This is what Nandos failed to do and hence cost the in terms of how fast the company expanded. It has rigidly and excessively stuck to its corporate culture exhibited in South Africa. It failed to note that South Africans national culture is not the same thing as what applies in countries in European and Asian states . (Cross Cultural Management Report On Nandos Cultural Studies Essay) A time when Nandos did adjust their product or service to have an impact on a particular culture was when they collectively targeted people in Saudi Arabia during Ramadan. The company knows that during the month Ramadan takes place, Muslim people do not eat during sunlight as it is part of there religious beliefs. Nandos open there restaurants right up to midnight to offer a better service to the customers as they feast at sundown. This years Ramadan will run from Friday 26th of May till Saturday 24th June. With Social media being at the forefront of communicating today that is where Nandos do most of their advertising as it costs less than any other source of advertisement. The problem with this is when Nandos releases and ad online it must cater for all the different cultures of the countries in which they have restaurants in and countries they wish to expand to. They must not cause worldwide unrest. A time when the food chain did cause a huge global cultural problem was on March 26th 2016 when the released a paper print advertisement that was in the English Daily newspaper. The print read: We dont mind if you touch our buns, or breasts, or even our thighs. Whatever youre into, enjoying any Nandos meal with your hands is always recommended, read the advertisement. The headline read: Try something you can grab with both hands. Source: (NandoS Cheeky Print Ad Stirs Up Trouble; Ends In Public Apology) This little piece of advertisement placed in an English newspaper grabbed headlines in India it was that controversial. The topic was covered by the indianexpress.com Nandos received severe backlash from people on social media as many people viewed this as being sexist towards women. This resulted in Nandos issuing an apology to its followers. Source: (NandoS Cheeky Print Ad Stirs Up Trouble; Ends In Public Apology) This is just one cultural issue that Nandos got wrong when marketing not only in the UK but globally that had a negative effect on customers. This shines the company negatively that will see customers and potential customers boycott the brand thus, delays the company from growing and building cultural relationships with countries. The Impact of culture on how an organisation might be managed from a HR perspective. When an organization is growing internationally, culture must be instilled within the core of an organization. Culture is a huge part of business, especially big international companies as it is tough to take all the determinants of culture into account of a whole country, youve got to make sure you are not insulting anyone and all the barriers have been successfully resolved. The norms of culture are: religion, political economic philosophies, education, language and social structure. The norms and values of culture evolve overtime. It is vital a manger tells their employees what these values and norms are so that they can carry out their duties how the mangers want the company to be seen by its customers. The Nando s management in the South African headquarter had given no room for the management of its firms in other countries to operate freely this has given them no room for innovative strategic marketing planning in observance to the environment in which they operate in . The national culture of South Africa has greatly influenced the corporate culture of the Nandos organization and it thus constituted a negative impact when its adherence and transfer to other national culture that is not compatible , led to the unprofitable business operations in these countries . (Cross Cultural Management Report On Nandos Cultural Studies Essay) The impact of culture on issues such as negotiations with local suppliers and agents. Nandos are a company that basis themselves on serving their customers with fresh never frozen chicken but this has come under scrutiny. Nandos came under fire in 2013 when a Daily Mail reporter wrote an article describing the whole story about why Nandos chicken isnt as wholesome as you think (Daily Mail, 2013). They suggested that Faccenda, one of Nandos main chicken suppliers, kept the chickens in poor conditions, (NandoS Ethical Practice And How It Could Be Improved) à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦these birds will have been bred in hangar-like sheds, never setting foot outdoors in the six weeks it takes them to reach their genetically engineered slaughter weight. (Daily Mail, 2013). If this was through it would have a knock on effect when the company went to negotiate with other suppliers and would maybe cause customers to go elsewhere for natural fresh chicken. For example Nandos main fresh chicken suppliers (uk) as posted on their website are: Cargill, Moy Park, Faccenda, Freemans of Newent and 2sisters. The other suppliers of the fresh chicken may boycott the company as they dont want to be labelled with suppliers such as Faccenda as it could have repercussions on their trade in the future. This could leave Nandos with suppliers cancelling their trade agreements. Another impact this could have with negotiations with local suppliers and agents is with this article being released the other suppliers may demand more money as they are supplying fully fresh chicken compared to Faccenda suppliers. Nandos also came under scrutiny in 2014 when the guardian released an article questioning how ethical Nandos is. Recently the Enthoven family, who owns Nandos, has been found to have a secretive offshore à £750m trust located in a Channel Islands. This offshore trust means that family can avoid UK inheritance tax on all their fortune (The Guardian, 2014). However the restaurant group pointed out that they paid à £12.6m in UK corporation tax last year. This also could have had an impact on Nandos when they want to expand in the UK in terms of taxes and the relationship with the government. Suggestions à à Nandos actions on social media is one of the main areas that needs to be adjusted in order to entice more people to eat in their restaurants. Social media connects everyone around the world. People of all cultures so Nandos must be careful want content/ads they release online as it could be seen as funny by one nation and disrespectful by another. Nandos is known for releasing these controversial adverts around the world. From my findings this is the main area the company needs to adjust or rethink. Whoever looks after the social media on behalf of Nandos make sure they have the necessary training it takes to operate these profiles. From my findings another area I havent mentioned a lot is the Nandos menu. It is almost the same all across the world. 90% of the menu is the same as it is here in Ireland. I think a good idea would be to introduce more types of food options on menus in countries based on the culture of the country that Nandos operate in. For example: India already has 5 restaurants, with Nandos planning on expanding their. Integrate Indian delicacies to the menu to cater for that country to try entice more of the locals that are not fans of the Portuguese food Nandos serve. Free Hamlet Essays: Hamlet Father and Son :: GCSE Coursework Shakespeare Hamlet
Hamlet: Comparing Father and Son The play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Hamlet was a man that looked up to his father throughout his life, during and after his father's death. The younger Hamlet tried to follow in his father's footsteps, but as much as they were alike, they were very much different. The man named Hamlet had a son named Hamlet and after everything was over, that is one of the few things that they had in common. King Hamlet and Hamlet compare in that they are both upset by the Queenââ¬â¢s marriage, they both hate Claudius, they are both brave, and they are both dead by the end of the play. They contrast in that while Hamletââ¬â¢s father was king, Hamlet will never have the kingship, Hamlet does not leave a legacy and they die differently. Hamlet looked up to his father because he felt that he was a great leader and the bravest man that he knew, as Hamlet mentioned, "so excellent a kingâ⬠(I. ii.149). He wanted to be so much like him, but couldn't because of a couple of barriers that he had to deal with. He became a lot like his father in the end. Hamlet was very disappointed with his life because he knew that becoming king was one thing that he didn't have in common with his father, because his stepfather was king, ââ¬Å"married with my uncle, my father's brother" (I. ii. 151-2). Hamlet was very upset by his mother's marriage, and as he learns later, his father was as well, "It is not nor it cannot come to good: But break, my heart; for I must hold my tongue" (I. ii. 157-8). The ghost of Hamlet's father advises his own opinion, "Let not the royal bed of Denmark be A couch for luxury and damned incest" (I. v. 82-3). They both shared the hatred towards Claudius, the King and the wife of Hamlet's mother and his father's widow. Hamlet expresses his hatred in I. v. 106, 108-9, "O villain, villainâ⬠¦That one may smileâ⬠¦and be a villain; At least I am sure it may be so in Denmark.â⬠The ghost gives his hatred in I. v. 38-9, 42, "The serpent that did sting thy father's life Now wears his crown. Ay, that incestuous, that adulterate beast.â⬠Hamlet does become as brave as his father when he kills the king, his stepfather, when the plot of the king to kill Hamlet goes wrong, and the Queen drinks the poisoned drink herself.

Absolute Truth â⬠Is There Such a Thing as Absolute Truth? Essay
There are two answers for the question, ââ¬Å"Is there such a thing as absolute truth? â⬠The answer could be either yes or no. In my opinion, the answer is yes, because every individual lives his or her life in various experiences. Some people claim to know the absolute truth. Individuals based their truth on experiences and emotions and at times not logically consistent. When force fields such as emotions are present decisions are made then opinions are formed. For example, politics, I state politics because it never has a common ground. In politics youââ¬â¢re either Democrat or Republican, and both parties feel their plan is the absolute truth. As an American, we have the right to our own opinion but realize that our opinion is not the absolute truth. To make the statement that there is no absolute truth is invalid. Because one plus one does equal two so there is absolute truth which can be proven and understood. Is there such a thing as absolute truth? Yes, because of human conscience that ââ¬Å"dutyâ⬠within us that tells us that certain things are right and wrong. Therefore, our conscience let us know there is something wrong with pain, hunger, rape and makes us aware that love, peace, and charity are positive things for which we should strive for. In my opinion it so important to understand the concept of absolute truth in all areas of life this includes religion, because consequences exist in life for being wrong. For instance, a nurse can give a patient the wrong amount of a medication that can kill them; having an investment broker make the wrong monetary decisions can put you and your family in poverty; getting on the wrong bus will take someone where they do not wish to go; and dealing with an cheating spouse can result in the destruction of a family and potentially divorce. There are so many religions in this world that attempt to give their meaning and definition to absolute truth. Your existence is absolute truth which is simple. Through religion, mankinds seek God, we hope for the future, forgiveness of our sins, peace in the midst of struggle, and answers to our deepest questions. Religion is really proof that mankind is more thanjust a highly evolved creature. God implanted in man the desire to know him, and God is indeed the Creator, which makes Him the standard for absolute truth, and with His authority that establishes the absolute truth.

What Links Disciplines Of Literature, Philosophy And...
What links the disciplines of literature, philosophy and mathematics? The answer is, quite simply, fiction. Fiction has probably existed since the human brain was capable of imagination, either for distraction or for the more functional purpose of envisioning hunt scenarios when our nomadic ancestors would need to survive. Fiction can be defined as a literary tool that fools readers or theatre goers into thinking that the author possesses certain knowledge about the world (Plato et al., 1963) but is usually understood as a world or scenario that is created by human imagination. However, that doesn t necessarily make it untrue, as fiction can be based on reality and can become a useful mechanism to convey important messages and help shapeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Numbers and equations simply to not concretely exist in our world. Maths is, after all, like any written language, glorified scribbling that somehow resonates with meaning in our minds. Take as an example 4 = 2 + 2 . Th is string of symbols translates itself into what we understand is an equation: the two sides of the = sign are the same. However, neither 4 not 2 + 2 exist. They are not visually identical. Yet somehow we accept that connecting them with the = symbol indicates that their numerical value is equivalent. Like fiction, maths merely requires us to suspend our disbelief long enough for us to understand whatever story or message the author is trying to impart. This philosophical position is called Mathematical Fictionalism. Its proponents believe that mathematics are purely fictional but are still functional as long as its purpose is not meant to be a mirror of reality (Leng, 2016). However, this position calls into question the validity of mathematics. Fiction, if assumed completely truthful, becomes a lie. So if mathematics are purely a human made language created to describe phenomena that cannot be described in another language, how can we ascertain its precision and how much power should we give it in a discussion? Mathematical entities do not exist concretely, yet we give them characteristics and magnitudes that allow them to be ranked, ordered and even to interact amongst

A Historical Movie Need Not Be 100% True Essay - 706 Words
Advanced information technology is widely used in the millennium age. History is can be reprinted, re-edited and re-presented (Chan, 2013). Relatively, history can be shown in a more realistic way than before. Audience can spend few hours to have a brief understanding of history. However, I think the motivation of making historical movie is not merely for education but consists of other reasons. Seediq Bale will be taken as an example for elaboration. Firstly, the movie is a review of modern value. There is a comparison between civilized (Japanese) and uncivilized (Indigenous people). Modern education tells me civilization is an indispensible element for human evolution. It is a symbol of superiority. Indigenous people who are illiterateâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It depreciates indigenous people. Indigenous people cannot receive fair treatment even they are better than Japanese. Indigenous women are not respected. They need to drink with Japanese. Government does not help them wh en they are raped. Money is not need in the world of indigenous people but civilization introduces money which makes indigenous people become the poor as they do not have money originally. Civilization introduces development so that the home of indigenous people is mined. Their resources are deprived. Civilization introduces secularization so that traditions and customs are prohibited. Their belief is not respected (Wei, 2011). These are different with my understanding of civilization which is contributive and inclusive. In addition, Mona Rudo mentioned he had visited Japan. Japanese deliberately arrange him to have dinner with his enemies to make the atmosphere nervous. He keeps kind to Japanese when there is conflicts between Japanese and indigenous people. But Japanese never say thank you to him. Conversely, Japanese always threat him (Wei, 2011). This reflects Japanese civilization does not respect indigenous people. It also consists of conspiracy. Things shown from the movie ar e very realistic. We are easy to misunderstand that these are 100% true. Usually, there is a difference between projection and reality. In Seediq Bale, Mona Rudo is a hero. His image is positive. In reality, he had cooperated with Japanese. Impact of HRM Practices on Employees Efficacy and Engagement
Question: Describe about the Impact of HRM Practices on Employees for Efficacy and Engagement? Answer: Introduction Human resource management for the travel and tourism it is an integrated part of the HRM. The definition is that it is a process of recruit and develop the employee. For that case, this process is valuable for the organization. In the human resource management also focused on the recruitment process, planning, salaries; etc. English Riviera Tourism Company is the best travel company in UK. As the HR in this travel company it the responsibility for employee selection process. HR also focused on the industrial relation. HR management is a management process (Purce, 2014). Every travel and tourism company has an HR for management the process in the company. HR maintains the training and development process and maintains the recruitment process. The tourism activity on which the study is based on is Sporting Interests. Recruitment Selection For difficulties in the management, some problems arise in the recruitment process related to the sporting interest. Most manager of the company not maintains the actual process of the selection. For that case, the wrong person can be recruited by the company (Breaugh, 2014, July). For preventing this kind of problem, the company recruits HR for management the company policies. Method of Recruitment and Selection When arises vacancy in the company then manager take a step towards the recruitment process. Management decides some criteria for the employee. This process also handles by the company HR. HR tries to maintain the following criteria (Hotter et al. 2013) that a person may have an interest in sporting they got the first opportunity. That is- Position of the company should be needed. The position is for the sporting person who likes adventure. Position in the company is either permanent or temporary. Who applied for this job they also mention the personal specification, skill and experiences. Skill should depend on the sporting interest. Advertising for the position This part is for advertising and marketing for the vacancy of the company. The company should be careful for the position and company want a right person for least cost. The company also attracts the person by the advertisement. The company was also telling the person about the labour market and condition of the labour market. In the advertisement should be based on the sporting person only. This is the essential things for understand by the person. In the advertising, many methods is used that is- Advertising internally. They also identify the perfect person for based on the application form. They also select the person through the writing of the application and presentation of the job. The company also selects the person for based on the qualification, skills and throughout the experience. The HR department also chooses the person based on the application form. They overview the application form, and they select the person for the interview. In the application, the method also has some difficulties. That is- One application form is not used for another job. The application form is not enough for the judge the person (Mello, 2014). Selection Method There are many different kinds of the method available in the company for the selection procedure. Arrange the interview, arrange test, presentation, which role should be playing in the company and also maintain the team exercises (Martin-Rojas, Garcia-Morales and Mihi-Ramirez, 2014). Interview preparation The manager of the company must be sure about the legal right of the person who want to work in the UK travel company. Forms and letter The company provides the candidate different application forms for knowing the skill of the student and this form provide by the senior manager. Provide the cover letter about the description of the company and also mention the contract information (Lengnick-Hall et al. 2011). The company provides all the form through the selection process to recruitment to the candidate. Manager guide and procedure In the company also mention the management guide and procedure of the company and give the idea to the candidate about the procedure. Training and Development Recruiting the most talented and experienced candidates is not enough until the candidates have clear idea about the roles and responsibilities adequately. Training and Development is specialized HRM activity that not only helps the organizations to provide clear idea about the job roles, but also to enhance the competency level and productivity of the employees (Agarwal and Kapoor(Kohli), 2013). There are two fundamental methods of training and development that are on-the-job methods and off-the job methods. On-the-job training methods are the methods, where the employees are trained, while they are working. Off-the-job methods are the methods, where the employees are trained outside the organizations (Berman, 2015). The outside trainings are usually given towards the activities regarding sporting interest such as fishing, golfing etc. The management of English Riviera Tourism has been following both training and development methods largely for the activities regarding sporting interest such as fishing. Almost all the methods are proven effective for the company, but there are certain limitations too. The current study will recommend various strategies to minimize such limitations in order to enhance the effectiveness of the training and development methods of English Riviera Tourism (Bhurtel, 2015). Under on-the-job training, the management of English Riviera Tourism has appointed various supervisors or training assistants to help the new recruitments to understand the job roles and responsibilities, especially in terms of the activities regarding sporting interest. These supervisors have the potential to become active managers in the future. The management is rotating the new employees to various different departments in order to help them understand the overall goals and objectives of the organization in terms of the activities regarding sporting interest (Sigala, Christou and Gretzel, 2012). The management is also allowing the new employees to perform independently and to share their ideas. The supervisors are instructing the new employees with critical evaluation and demonstration; this will help the new employees to perform effectively (Harzing and Pinnington, 2015). However, there are certain limitations of on-the-job training. Most of their methods are time-consuming, especially to learn them about the activities regarding sporting interest such as fishing and golfing. As the methods are time-consuming, the management of English Riviera Tourism has been getting various issues, while performing their operational activities, especially during the peak seasons (Meijerink et al. 2015). Under off-the-job training, the management is conducting various training activities such as role playing, organizing conferences, outdoor training, coaching and mentoring. The leaders and the managers of English Riviera Tourism are arranging various conferences, coaching and mentoring sessions to motivate and to educate the new employees regarding the activities related to sporting interests (Thakore, 2013). As a result, most of the new employees are highly motivated and focused. These methods have also enhanced employee retention rate of the organization. As the company is a tourism organization, various outdoor training related to the activities regarding sporting interest is given by the management to their new employees. Off-the-job training is more effective than on-the job training for the company English Riviera Tourism, but they usually have to invest more for off-the-job method. During the off-the-job training, the management is unable to attain revenue from the new employees. In addition, in case if a new employee decides to leave the organization after training, it may become loss for the organization (Bhurtel, 2015). Recommendations for improving Training and Development Methods Setting Up Clear and Effective Training and Development Objectives and Goals about Sporting Interests The management of English Riviera Tourism does not have clear and concise objectives and goals for the training and development, especially about the activities regarding sporting interest such as fishing and golfing. This is why they are mostly unable to utilize the effectiveness of training and development methods. Therefore, the management should setup clear and effective goals. Targeting the Needs Most of the training and development methods of English Riviera Tourism are too generic. The even organization can assist the tourism company to select alternative methods, which are target-oriented. One of the key needs of the company is to promote and to utilize sporting interests. Tracking Outcome The management of English Riviera Tourism should analyze the outcome of their training and development activities using the help of the event organization in order to enhance the effectiveness of the methods and to avoid the non-effective methods. Self-Reflective Log Human Resource Management (HRM) has various significances, especially within the current organizational environments, which is changing constantly. Competition and the intention to enhance profitability have made the organizational environments more challenging. HRM is helping the organizations to deal with these challenges effectively through various HRM activities such as Recruitment and Selection and Training and Development. The current assignment helped me to gain overall idea about the Recruitment and Selection and Training and Development processes by analyzing the current context of English Riviera Tourism. I have learned about all the aspects, benefits and limitations of such HRM activities through critical analysis of the HRM practices in English Riviera Tourism. I have learned that there are needs of both on-the-job and off-the-job training to perform effectively within the tourism organizations. However, the key approach must be to select the best possible training and development method based on the needs and requirements of the tourism business. I have learned that off-the-job trainings are most effective but costly too, while on-the-job methods are time-consuming. Therefore, I will have to carefully consider the training and development methods, while operating within a tourism industry. On the other hand, I have also understood and have gathered adequate knowledge regarding the recruitment and selection processes within a tourism organization. I have the knowledge regarding the skills and expertise required for operating within the tourism organization that I must consider during recruitment and selection. I have evaluated that the there are various skills and competencies required for operating the HRM activities effectively within a travel and tourism company. First of all, it is essential to understand all the business operations involved within a tourism company to analyze the roles and responsibilities of each position. The tours and tourism industry is largely customer-oriented. Therefore, I have analyzed the skills and competencies required for performing within the tourism organization. In this way, the analytical and critical thinking skills are essential for performing the HRM activities successfully within the tourism companies. In addition, there are various skills such as communication, coordination etc, that are essential to carry on the HRM responsibilities successfully in the tourism organizations. These skills are essential as most of the business and operation of the tourism industries largely depend upon how they are responding towards the customers. However, there are various other areas, where I need to concentrate more for enhancing my HR skills. In order to become a successful HR manager, I must also provide key priority towards the technical HR skills. On the other hand, the entire HRM concept is becoming technologically advanced as many leading companies have already started implementing advanced and sophisticated technologies within their business and operation. Therefore, it is essential for me to understand those technologies and their usage. Coordination and team work is also essential for enhancing the tourism services. Therefore, I must focus upon those aspects for improving my HR skills in order to perform efficiently within a tourism organization. Conclusion The current assignment concludes various aspects of HRM, where the key focus are given towards the HR skills and competencies required for performing effectively within a tourism organization.
